One of my passions is to teach families about life force energy and how to use it to support emotional and physical well being. Just imagine if every child had great tools like Healing Touch and EFT to manage their emotions and help them to deal with life’s bumps and bruises!

Nature and Your Health: Feed Your Chakras

Have you noticed that a warm, sunny day in early Spring can bring out droves of people? After a long winter there is a strong urge to get outside. We’ve been cooped up in our homes and offices for months, away from the sun and the outdoors.
This craving for the outdoors and nature is referred to as biophilia (love of living things). Scientists have theorized that humans have a biological need to bond with and be close to other living systems, including: animals, plants, habitats, objects in nature and even the weather.
The term Nature Deficit Disorder (NDD) was first coined by author Richard Louv in his book, Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature Deficit Disorder. He refers to the biophilia theory and suggests that many of our children are suffering as a result of the disconnect from nature created by our modern lifestyles.
However, it’s not just children who need nature! We all need this connection to nature to some degree.

What is a Living Food? (No, I’m not talking about what you find at the back of the refrigerator!) The simplest definition is that it has a high vibrational quality. If we were able to measure the potential energy (on a subtle level) of a Living Food, it would be full of life-force energy ready to be easily absorbed by the consumer.
Over ten years ago, I was introduced to the concept of Living Books through the work of Charlotte Mason, an early 20th century British educator. Her philosophies completely changed my approach to homeschooling and how I used books. I have discovered many parallels between feeding our minds on Living Books and feeding our bodies with a healthy diet of Living Foods.
Mason defined a Living Book as a “whole” book that feeds the spirit on many levels. Much of classic literature fits this category as well as books of scripture from all traditions. The hallmark of a Living Book is that it can be read again and again and there is always something more to be gained or learned.
Mason termed books that are a waste of time–that do not feed the soul–as “twaddle.” Kind of like a junk-food version of books. Also, few textbooks can pass as Living Books because they are often stripped of their story, leaving just selected points that are recognized as being important.

Heart Chakra Awareness: Balancing the Heart and the Head

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched–they must be felt with the heart.” Helen Keller
Why do we have so many metaphors for the heart? We tell each other to “follow your heart” and we talk about people who are “hard-hearted” or someone with a “heart of gold.” We listen with an “open heart” and when someone hurts us we get a “broken heart.” When we get deep into a topic we “get to the heart of the matter.”
I believe that we use so many metaphors about the heart because we inherently know that it is at the core of our being.
Caroline Myss, author of Energy Anatomy, calls the heart the “central powerhouse of the human energy system.” Of the seven major chakras in the chakra system, the heart is literally at the center. It is the bridge between the lower chakras and the upper chakras.
